Jammu, March 15
Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) Parliamentary candidate
for Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Sardar Gursagar Singh Isher during his four-day
visit to hilly areas of Thanamandi, Rajouri and Nowshera has called for more
transparency and public consultation in planning and development. During the
tour Isher was accompanied by the party president Dr Dr Darakshan Andrabi and
other SDP leaders, wherein they met with local people and listened to their
grievances. The people of the remote areas accorded warm welcome to the party
leaders and shared their problems with them.
People highlighted water, electricity and road among other
problems being confronted by them in the hilly areas. They further admitted
that till date they have been wasting their votes, by casting vote to a wrong
person without knowing his credentials.
The people reposed faith in the policies of SDP and assured
full support to the MP candidate of the party, Sardar Gursagar Singh Isher in
the upcoming elections. People appreciated Isher for trekking 3 kms up to the
isolated villages of Thanamandi only to meet people. They said young and
energetic representative like Isher better understands their problems, as he
can trek hilly areas to take stock of the problems faced by people, which
otherwise is not done by other politicians.
In order to revamp the development in hilly terrains, Isher
said that SDP focuses attention on the all-round development of the remote and
hilly areas, which are till date being overlooked by the successive governments
of the state.
“SDP endeavors to develop hilly and remote areas of the
state,” said Isher while addressing a public meeting and added that coalition
Government is unaware of the problems of the people.
He appealed to the people to positively contribute in the
efforts of the SDP to carry forward its development agenda in all areas to
address their grievances and accommodate their development needs.
The public meet was organized by SDP district president Haji
Mohd Aslam.
